Overview

Switch-mode power supplies, uninterruptible power supplies and active power-factor-correction front ends convert and condition large amounts of electrical power, and the quality of the power stage determines both efficiency and reliability. NCE Power's portfolio fits this space well: Super Junction MOSFETs for the PFC and high-frequency stages, Trench Field-Stop IGBTs for high-current conversion, and SGT MOSFETs for the low-voltage output. BeiLuo supplies the whole set with genuine traceability and FAE support.

Active Power-Factor Correction

Modern supplies draw near-sinusoidal current to meet harmonic limits, using an active PFC front end that switches at high frequency and handles the full input power. A boost converter built around an NCE60NF080F Super Junction MOSFET corrects the power factor with low loss. The charge-balance structure gives a 70 milliohm on-resistance at 41 A, and the 53 nC gate charge keeps the drive light, so the boost stage switches efficiently at high frequency. The intrinsic fast-recovery body diode also helps in bridge and LLC stages, where the body diode conducts during the dead time and its recovery affects loss and EMI.

Harmonics and Control

The PFC control loop shapes the input current to follow the input voltage, so the current waveform must be controlled precisely and the power stage must switch predictably. A clean switching edge and a low-inductance layout reduce the high-frequency content that would otherwise require a larger input filter. Getting the current loop and the layout right is what separates a compliant front end from a noisy one.

High-Frequency and High-Current Stages

A switch-mode supply converts the mains to a regulated output, and the choice of switch follows from the stage. The PFC and primary stages use Super Junction MOSFETs for their low switching loss, while a high-current output or a UPS inverter stage may use a Trench FS IGBT such as the NCE20TD60BT. Its 1.7 V saturation voltage keeps conduction loss small at 20 A, and its 5 microsecond short-circuit withstand gives margin for the transients of real loads. Where the output is low voltage, an SGT MOSFET such as the NCEP055N30GU handles synchronous rectification with a low on-resistance.

LLC and Bridge Stages

In an LLC or full-bridge converter, the body diode of the switch conducts during the dead time. A conventional super-junction body diode can produce reverse-recovery loss and ringing; the NCE SJ-III TF series enhances the body-diode recovery to reduce that loss, which improves efficiency and simplifies EMC.

Thermal and Layout Design

Keep the DC-link capacitor close to the switches, size the gate resistor to control the edges within the EMI budget, and measure overshoot at the device terminals. Choose the package for your cooling: the Super Junction family spans TO-220F, TO-252, TO-263 and TO-247, and the IGBT family adds TO-3P. Verify junction temperature at the worst-case current and ambient, and use a thin, uniform interface material with the specified mounting torque.

Documentation and Supply

Power-supply manufacturers and their customers demand complete traceability. Every NCE Power device BeiLuo ships includes an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS compliance file, so procurement and audit reviews are straightforward. Mainstream devices are held in regional stock, and our FAE team supports device selection, gate drive, layout and thermal sign-off from prototype to production.

Conclusion

Power supplies reward efficiency, low noise and dependable supply. NCE Power Super Junction MOSFETs, Trench FS IGBTs and SGT MOSFETs deliver the electrical performance these designs need, and BeiLuo adds the authorized stock, documentation and engineering support that keep projects on schedule.
